At NextGen Leadership, we empower communities and embody excellence for the next generation of leaders. Our founder grew up in Cameroon, within the very system we aim to transform. So we understand the challenges underserved students face because we’ve lived them. This insight fuels a deep commitment to creating real, lasting change.
Why Now?
USAID’s funding has been severely cut based on U.S. government policy, which has created a need for donors and other organizations to fill the abrupt void.
The Anglophone Crisis has created a “lost generation” of children with over 2,000 schools that have been shut down. Hundreds of thousands of children are out of school, with many missing years of their education. This not only puts their future at risk but also contributes to rising social problems like child pregnancy and crime
Deep-Seated Systemic Problems. Girls and children in poor, rural areas face significant barriers to education, including cultural biases and the high cost of school materials, leading to higher dropout rates.
Inadequate Infrastructure. Only a small percentage of schools in rural areas have working toilets or access to a water tap, and overcrowding is severe, with student-to-teacher ratios far exceeding recommended standards
