Our Story
From struggle to service
In the bustling economic Capital of Cameroon, a young girl’s world shifted overnight. What began as a comfortable middle-class life transformed into an uncertain journey when her parents lost their jobs, turning dreams of higher education into distant hopes. That girl was me, and that moment of crisis would eventually shape a mission to ensure no child faces the same barriers to their educational dreams.
The power of books
The path from Cameroon to France, and eventually to the United States, was paved with challenges that no textbook could have prepared me for. Far from family and friends, with limited resources and an uncertain future, I found solace in books: education was my lifeline. It became my refuge, my hope, and ultimately, my salvation.
The power of compassion
In Charleston, South Carolina, a bed-and-breakfast owner saw potential where others might have seen only another struggling student. She offered me my first job as a housekeeper, with flexible hours that allowed me to continue my studies. This act of compassion from a stranger became the turning point that changed everything. It wasn’t just a job; it was someone believing in my potential when I could barely see it myself.
Excellence delivered
Through relentless determination and the kindness of people who chose to invest in a young immigrant’s dream, I not only graduated at the top of my class but went on to build a successful career. Eventually, I rose to become CEO of a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate healthcare to low-income individuals and families—a role that taught me the profound impact of accessible, quality services in underserved communities.
